Simu Liu calls out Quentin Tarantino’s Marvel comments

“I don’t like them,” Quentin said 2 bears, 1 cave podcast. “My only ax to grind against them is that they seem to be the only ones made.”

“Part of the wonder of Hollywood is that these actors who have become famous are playing these characters,” he continued. “But they’re not movie stars. Are they? Captain America is the star, or Thor is the star.”

Tarantino isn’t the only high-profile director to criticize Marvel — remember when Martin Scorsese said in 2019 that movies were “not cinema”?

Well, on Twitter, Simu took the moment to call out both Tarantino and Scorsese for their comments. “If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom were Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a $400 million plus film,” he began.

If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom were Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a $400 million plus movie. I admire their cinematic genius. Transcendent authors. But they can’t point their noses at me or anyone.

“No movie studio is perfect, and it never will be. But I’m proud to work with one that has made a persistent effort to improve diversity on screen by creating heroes who empower and inspire people in all communities,” he continued. .

Then, possibly referring to Tarantino’s latest film – Once upon a time in Hollywood he added: “I loved ‘The Golden Age’ too… but it was white as hell.”

And he sent out a further tweet, writing that “loser is preparing for internet trolls”.
