It seems hockey has at least slipped to the point where the public eye can get it to do the right thing. days late. It’s barely above nothing, but it’s moving from nothing to a pair inches above barely nothing is the lowest form of progress. But progress.
Par days ago, Michigan State hockey player Jagger Joshua released a statement on Twitter:
He was forced to go public because the Big 10 did nothing to punish Ohio State’s Kamil Sadl.ouch. Since Sadiocha was the only player fouled during the game that Joshua referred to, it’s very easy to pin him as the player who repeatedly hurled racial slurs at Joshua.
And of course the conference did nothing at first, feeling satisfied that in-game misconduct was sufficient punishment for racially insulting an opponent. The idea of ”sufficient evidence” was of course laughable because Sadiocha was thrown by an officer on the ice. It doesn’t seem that difficult for the conference to ask the official why he expelled Sadlocha and get all the evidence they would need.
It is not clear what motivations the conference had for allowing this to happen, but the conclusion they could draw in their own minds would be infuriating and sad. One, they actually think getting kicked out of a part of the game is enough to get them into racism on the ice. Of course, their claim of insufficient evidence does not support this. It’s possible they never spoke to the judge in their investigation, which would be a travesty of an investigation. Or they didn’t want to hold all their other officials to the same standard. None of these are acceptable.
After Joshua’s Twitter statement gained traction, Ohio State was forced into action late last night in what looks suspiciously like news dumping, but it’s not that?:
This comes after MSU and OSU released an earlier statement saying they had reached some sort of resolution, not explaining what it was, who they spoke to, or anything else, while never saying a word about racism. . He was as tight-lipped as could be, perhaps in the vain hope that everything would just explode. That would be the normal way to play hockey.
In the end, the situation was resolved as it should have been, Sadlocha was kicked out of the team. But the puck had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the right choice again what is beautiful cut and dried state. Maybe one day they’ll get to the point where instead of kicking and screaming, they just drag their feet.
Cristiano Ronaldo finally got what he wanted, which is to be released from his contract with Manchester United, as he publicly stated that everyone you work for is an idiot, it usually works. In fact, he wanted everyone to talk about him when he wasn’t even playing, which he got.
The funniest result now that he is a free agent is Ronaldo finding that no Champions League club wants to pay him what will surely be an outrageous salary because Ronaldo can no longer do anything. Unless you are a team that can place an obelisk that can only stand around the penalty spot and your other players hit the ball into the net. Hugging someone.
On the same day, however, the news appeared that the The Glazers are said to be putting the club up for sale. Perhaps the Ronaldo affair was the straw that broke their back, in which case United will forever be a hero to the fans if he rids them of the Glazers. Somehow he always wins.
Was there porn yesterday?
Finally, this was missed on sunday:
Not that I know who it is, of course.
