Guadeloupe’s government is battling ‘large-scale’ cyber attacks

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe is battling a so-called “large-scale” cyber attack on its computer networks.

The government is working with an unidentified firm to limit the impact of the attack and to restore its systems as soon as possible, officials said Monday.

The notice warning of the attack was also posted on the government’s main website on Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear whether the hackers demanded a ransom or what government services may have been affected.

A government spokesman did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
